Admissions

All children ages 18 months to 14 years are considered for admission following our admissions process.

We prioritize applicants who are most ready to fully engage with the Montessori curriculum, contribute through family participation and volunteering, and fully nurture a partnership between child, parent and teacher.

Admission priorities are in accordance with the following school policy:

  • Returning students
  • Siblings of students at Cornerspring
  • Montessori transfer students
  • Children from the community at large

Once the school determines acceptance, parents will be required to complete all pertinent forms and pay the appropriate fees and deposits to ensure enrollment of their child.

Cornerspring does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, sexual orientation, ancestry or national origin in the administration of its educational policies and admission policies. As a result, Cornerspring admits students of any race, color, sex, religion, sexual orientation, ancestry or national origin and provides rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.

Children With Special Needs

The decision to admit a child who has been diagnosed by an appropriate professional with special needs is on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Head of School and the teachers.  Because Cornerspring is not a clinical school, we have limited resources and expertise in working with children with special needs.  Specialists working individually with a child (such as speech therapists, physical therapists or occupational therapists) are welcome to come and work with that child at Cornerspring, in or out of the child’s classroom.  The teachers will coordinate scheduling.  The parent(s) are responsible for paying for specialists’ services.

Should a special need of a Cornerspring student surface or change or should it become evident that Cornerspring cannot meet the special needs of the child, the staff will recommend to the Head of School that the child be placed in a more appropriate program.  Such a recommendation requires the joint decision of the child’s teachers and the Head of School.

How to Apply

If you are interested in enrolling in one of our programs, the first step is to fill out an inquiry form.

The next step in the application process is a tour of the school. Following the submission of an inquiry, you will receive an email request to schedule a tour with the head of school. To get the most of your tour, parents of toddler and preschool age children should plan to visit without children.

You’ll then receive a link to watch a video from Public Montessori in Action International. This 15-minute video provides a brief introduction to Montessori education for prospective families. Families will learn what Montessori is, the characteristics of a Montessori classroom, and what distinguishes a Montessori school from a conventional school.

The next step will include an invitation to complete an application. Applications are accepted year-round and must be submitted with a one-time application fee of $50.00. Once we’ve received your application, we will place your child on our waitlist for enrollment.

Elementary and middle school students are invited to visit a classroom for a full day, and parent meetings are scheduled with the classroom teacher to follow.

Together, we will be able to determine if Cornerspring is the right choice for your child and which program best suits their needs. Decisions regarding admission are made in April and May based on availability and your child’s fit for our Montessori education. A child may be accepted into the program, not accepted into the program or offered a place on a waitlist. If a child is accepted into our school, a non-refundable tuition deposit of 10% will be required to secure a spot.

What Our Families Have to Say about Cornerspring

“We initially chose Cornerspring preschool because unlike daycare, there is structured learning and we loved that the kids spent so much time outside. We have decided to stay with Cornerspring because of the emphasis on fostering independence, time in nature, multi-age classrooms and the general community feel of the school.” –Cornerspring Parent
